Scrapbooking

Last Saturday, I went to a National Scrapbook Day event held by a friend and fellow Creative Memories consultant, Donna. It was from 9 to 5 and I got 28 pages done. That was a great amount for me. It ended up being all of the pages I had done in my power layout box which was perfect. Then yesterday, I did some more pages here at home. Used my new Jumbo Wavy Square cutting pattern and that was cool! I love the new Jumbo patters (circle, oval and square)! Wonder what CM will come up with next...Richard has replaced some of the things on his ATV trailer which were ruined in last Friday's day of horror. He took the tongue box off and put it out on the curb for trash pickup on Monday night, but a neighbor boy saw it and came and asked if he could have it. So he ended up taking it instead. I think he will probably just bang out as much of the dent as possible with a hammer. Last night's Relief Society meeting was about gardening tips and organization tips and ideas. Loved both mini lessons! This year gardening is reduced to just berries. The nice thing is that they take up lots of space and they are perennial. Can't wait for the raspberries and blackberries to come on so I can eat a bunch and learn to can some jam as well.

Tongue Box takes a licking

I think today is secretly Friday the 13th. Richard came home at lunchtime to hitch up the trailer with the ATV's to go register the one from Utah. (It has to be inspected at the DMV in person). Richard got home and hitched the trailer to the truck and then while pulling the trailer out of the garage he runs the trailer into the side of the garage door ripping out some of the trim around the edge. He nails it back on, but it doesn't look perfect now. Then after several tries of getting it out, he unhitches the trailer and manually moves it over and part way out of the garage and then re-hitches it up. We left and on Ballantyne road in front of Countryside neighborhood the hitch comes off and we have to pull over on the one wide spot on the road next to an empty patch of land full of weeds and wildflowers. This is when Richard realizes that in hitching up the trailer he forgot to put down the black handle on the top of the hitch, but he had hooked up the chains and the cord to work the lights. So now he had to drive one ATC off the trailer to raise the hitch up out of the dirt and put it back on. The tongue box was smashed in by the truck hitch but luckily no damage to the truck. The trailer hitch has a small wheel that took a beating as well as the bar the wheel is attached to which part of that metal was ground off by the road. That smell is not very good. All in all, he damaged the garage, and the trailer in several places. We did manage to get it registered though with no more mishaps. Needless to say he won't forget this day for a long time to come!

A great week

Last week Alyssa and Becca were home for one week between semesters at BYU-Idaho. We had a lot of fun with them home. We had a great time one day at the mall buying a few clothing items the girls wanted/needed. We called it our lucky shopping day that day because we were not only able to find stuff the girls loved, but we also found it in their sizes, especially important in shoes that need to feel good and be cute! The girls were also kept busy going to one appointment after another at the doctor for physicals, dentist for checkups, eye doctor for new glasses (which ended up being identical to the ones her twin was wearing, making the twin not very happy, oops) and dermatologist to have a small mole removed and ending up with a 1 1/4 inch deep cut on her upper back. Not pleasant but had to be done. The girls got to go to one of Cassidy's lacrosse games which was fun and we had great weather that day as well, and Becca went bowling with Josh (his favorite activity) and to the zoo with Cassidy which they both loved! I miss them when they are away at school, but things are definitely much quieter which is also enjoyable.

Last weekend I had a National Scrapbook Day event with other consultants with Creative Memories. I had three people come to scrap and the other consultants each had a few customers as well. It went great and I think everyone had a great time. My friends each got several pages done and we had a great time visiting and getting to know each other as well. This weekend I get to attend an event as a customer and work on my own pages. I can't wait! CM has so many great things out now from punches and cutting system patterns to the most awesome sets of papers and embellishments! My favorites are the Black and White set and the Simply Beautiful set. Also Saturday night, we went to my great nephews 2nd birthday party, and had fun seeing my neice's new house. It was so fun! My great nephew Gabe and my nephew Sammy are so cute and funny, they keep us well entertained! Gabe has no appreciation for gifts of clothes (so typical of toddler boys) and poor Sammy who turns 3 next month, thought some of those great toy cars and tractors should have been his. I love my family and we always have the best time when we get together! It was truly a really great week!

Recent Scrapbook Pages

I recently scrapped a few pages using some of Creative Memories' newer products including the Black and White Power Palette and the new Simply Beautiful Power Palette as well as some older product from several years ago. The first page involves plain colored card stock from old packs and trimmers and punches. I like to use all brands of punches to have the most variety possible. I used a Martha Stewart border punch to make the lace edge on the yellow paper and the CM decorative trimmer to make the wave on the green strip. I cut the flowers out of cardstock using a Fiskars daisy punch. The centers of the flowers are from a Stampin' Up 1/2" punch, but other brands have them also. The second and third pages are done with a background paper from the Black and White Power Palette from CM and the blue paper accents are from an old Storybox set called Paradise from CM, but the same color scheme is now available from CM in the Delight and Simply Beautiful Power Palette packs. The flowers and paper ribbon used are from the Delight pack. The phrase stickers are also from the Delight pack, or some other packs from CM. The fourth page is another background from the Black and White with some yellow mat papers from Paradise (also available in Delight and Simply Beautiful) and last but not least the last page layout uses the Simply Beautiful Papers, and flowers and a page idea from the little book that comes free in each Power Palette system when the whole system is purchased together.

April 9, 2010

Yeah for more sunshine today after yesterday being freezing cold, windy and rainy! Mowed the lawn today even though it was still chilly. Cassidy had no school today for spring PT conferences. She and I went to the movie "the last song" this afternoon at Edwards. It was a pretty good movie, considering it would make a better book. The story definitely needs more time to build up to be really good, but overall not a bad movie. Mostly, I love the fact that there are no bad words or sex scenes, that's the best part. Went to lunch with Richard before the movie. We went to SmashBurger up by the Meridian St. Lukes. Richard loves their burgers. They are way good! Just something I noticed while there, as well as a couple of weeks ago at Qdoba. Why do women go to lunch with each other and then sit across from each other either texting or talking on the cell phone?! Ladies, what's the purpose of going to lunch with a friend if you aren't even with her?! Two women at smashburger with a passel of kids as well and they are each on their own cell phones texting or talking to someone else. What is our society coming to? I want the days of 20 years ago back, pre-cell phone.

Oh Happy Day

Wow, I woke up this morning to actual sunshine! It has been many days since that happened and I can't even describe how much better I feel just because of that big old sun! Cassidy has a lacrosse game this evening and I so hope the sun will stay out for that. I know it will be very cold and I will definitely have to wear a sweatshirt in addition to my coat as well as taking a big comforter along to sit on and wrap around me too. Whew, gotta love spring in Idaho. On Saturday, Alyssa and Becca will be home for a week and then Becca will show me how to put pictures on this blog and then, I will be taking pictures of cards I make as well as page ideas from my scrapbooking to post on here as well. Can't wait for that. Poor Becca and Alyssa have the whole week next week full of appointments that have to be done before heading back to college. They both have appointments with the doctor for a physical, dentist for cleaning, hair stylist for cut/color and Becca also has one for the eye doctor to get some glasses (she hasn't had a new pair for a few years since getting contacts) and the dermatologist. Nothing like a relaxing week at home. Have a happy day, everyone!

Easter Day

On Easter Sunday we were able to watch both sessions of General Conference. We watched the morning session live (even though we taped at the same time) and watched the taped session of the afternoon session. I loved both! My favorite talks were by Dieter Uchtdorf, Russell M. Nelson, and Richard G. Scott to name a few. I loved the messages about loving all of our brothers and sisters and recognizing that all are beloved sons and daughters of Heavenly Father who loves them all and not judging people. Also, I loved the talk about Family History and temple work, even though I don't do either (bad woman award on that one). I do have a temple recommend, I just don't seem to ever make it there. Then at 1:00 p.m. we had dinner at my Mom and Dad's house in Star with my sister and her family and two brothers and their families. I love when we all get together, because we get the chance to catch up on each other's lives and talk, eat great food, and laugh over the things Sammy, age 2 1/2 and Gabe age 2 say. When we were getting ready to take Gabe and Sammy our to hunt eggs in the yard, Sammy was calling for his dad to come out using his first name. He stands in the kitchen calling at the top of his voice, Brian, Briiiiiaaaaan! Then outside, he later asks Josh and Cassidy, "where's Brian?" I guess he assumes this will get better faster results, than just asking "where's Dad?" when several dads are present. Gabe doesn't talk as well or as clearly yet, since he is almost a year younger, but when looking for eggs, each time he finds one he says "oh, right there!" They both had fun gathering eggs, although it was freezing cold! Before we went out to hunt eggs, I took Sammy's binky and put it on a tv tray in the family room, so I could get pictures of him without it, then later he went looking for it and it wasn't there, so questioning his mom, she told him ask Aunt Keri since she took it before he went out, so he turned to me to ask, and I didn't know where it had been moved to, so Grandpa said it was on the kitchen counter, so I went to get it, but Sammy thought I lost it, so when I was in the kitchen getting it, I heard him saying, "did you lose my binky?" It was so funny, I brought it back and he started laughing when he saw it. He was so glad to get it back! Both Gabe and Sam love their binky's! It was just a great day!

My first message on my new blog

A big thank you to one of my twin daughters, Becca, for setting up my new blog for me and showing me how to do this blog stuff. Did I mention I'm slow when it comes to technology? We visited my mother-in-law for spring break this week and the twins were able to also meet us here after college classes on Friday. They also got some tickets to the Saturday afternoon session of the General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Spent Friday night with the girls laughing our heads off over jokes they got from college! So much fun, I can't even describe! I miss my girls so much when they are away at school and I can't wait for them to come home for a week starting April 10. My oldest son is 22 years old, married to a great girl we love, and they are buying their first home this month. I have twenty year old twin daughters who attend college, a son who is 17 and finishing up his junior year, and a 14 year old daughter who is finishing her last year of middle school, and looking forward to high school in the fall. My husband is definitely the smartest guy I know! He can fix anything and seems to know something about everything, with the exception of scrapbooking and things I like to do. My plans for this blog are to say what's on my mind on a variety of topics and also post pictures and ideas for scrapbook pages and handmade cards using products from Creative Memories and Stampin' Up. Thank you to all of you who wish to follow me on my journey!
